Chandigarh, January 9
Dense fog has affected air and rail traffic in the city. While only one flight took off from the Chandigarh airport on Friday, 14 others were cancelled owing to poor visibility. Five long route trains were also delayed by three to four hours. A light drizzle was also reported in some parts of the city in the evening hours.
The Met Department has forecast dense fog during the morning and night hours over the next two days.
Friday saw the city recording the coldest day of January this year. The maximum temperature was recorded at 10.4°C, 10 notches below the normal, while the minimum was 6.8°C, two notches above the normal.
The Unchahar Express 14217 was late by 4 hours at the city railway station, Sadbhavana Express 12231 by 3 hours, 15011 Lucknow Chandigarh by 3 hours, 15012 by 3 hours and 22685 Yeshwantpur-Chandigarh by 2 hours and 30 minutes.
