UHBVN Managing Director Nitin Yadav has said there has been a decrease of 16.43 per cent in the electricity bills of domestic consumers after the recent decision of the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC).

According to the new electricity tariffs, consumers whose power consumption is between 101 and 500 units have got the benefit of 50 paise per unit. The consumers whose power consumption is between 500 units and 800 units have benefited greatly as their bills are now being calculated on the basis of lower slabs.

Yadav said since this decision had been implemented from April 1, those who had paid their bills according to old tariffs were being given bills according to the new tariffs and the next bill would be adjusted accordingly. Those consumers who have not paid their bills yet would be sent bills according to the new slabs.

The government was giving another relief to the consumers by permitting them to pay their dues in five instalments without surcharge. — TNS
