16 Corps GOC visits forward posts in Akhnoor, briefed on security

General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 16 Corps Lt Gen Nimbhorkar visited forward locations of the Crossed Swords Division in the Akhnoor sector today.
In the Pallanwala area of Akhnoor, 32 km northwest of Jammu, Pakistani troops opened fire on Indian forward posts on Sunday night.
“Lt Gen Nimbhorkar was briefed on the security dynamics along the international border and the Line of Control in the area by Maj Gen Kulpreet Singh, GOC, Crossed Swords Division,” said Lt Col Manish Mehta, defence spokesperson.
During the visit, Lt General Nimbhorkar paid homage and rich tributes to the martyrs of the Crossed Swords Division at the Warriors Grove. He also interacted with the officers and men of the division.
In his address, Lt Gen Nimbhorkar applauded their efforts in ensuring peace and defending the frontiers. The 16 Corps GOCextended his best wishes to the units in the forward areas and exhorted all ranks to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation, the spokesperson said.
