163 children taught various dance forms

Sutradhar Kala Sangam, Kullu, an organisation engaged in promoting art and culture, organised a cultural programme-Dancing Daffodils at Kailash theater here today.

Kullu Municipal Committee president Bimla Mahant was the chief guest on the occasion. MC vice-president Gopal Krishan Mahant presided over the function.

Gopal Krishan Mahant lauded the efforts of the organisation in promoting art and culture and providing an opportunity and platform to the youth and children.

Dinesh Sen, president of Sutradhar Kala Sangam, said a 45-day workshop was organised for the fourth time and 163 children were taught various dance forms and self-defense techniques.

He said the event was launched four years ago with 45 children to encourage them to display their talent in various cultural activities. He said the strength of girls had outnumbered boys this year.

He thanked the members of the organisation and parents of the participants. He said the organisation had been working as a pioneer to provide opportunity to youth and children to display their talent in various cultural activities not only in Kullu, but outside the state.

He said the organisation had brought laurels to the state and recently won a gold medal at a national-level folk dance competition.

Children of different age groups performed various dance presentations.

Sutradhar Kala Sangam senior vice-president Yaninder Kapoor, vice-president Virender Singh, general secretary Sunder Shyam and parents were also present on the occasion.
