2 coaches of train derail in Hisar

Two coaches of Delhi-bound Haryana Express derailed near the railway junction here today.

Though there was no loss of life or injury in the mishap, the accident disrupted rail traffic on the Hisar-Rewari and Hisar- Delhi route for an hour.

The accident occurred at about 5.15 am when the Sirsa - Tilak Bridge Haryana express chugged off from the Hisar railway station. However, two coaches derailed on a curve point in the station yard. This is second incident on the same spot as a similar accident had occurred here two years ago.

Sources said that a technical fault in the line is suspected to be the reason behind it. The mishap resulted in delay in trains from Hisar to Delhi and Rewari for about one hour. The traffic was restored by providing passage on alternative routes.

DRM, Bikaner section, RK Saxena, senior divisional commercial manager, Rajneesh Kumar, rushed to the spot. The latter said that the DRM has ordered a probe into the incident and a committee would submit its report within a week.

Palwal-Aligarh train launched

Palwal: The first EMU (electrical multiple unit) train service between Palwal and Aligarh chugged off from Palwal railway station today.

It was flagged off by Krishan Pal Gurjar, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment. The train will pass through Ballabgarh, Faridabad, Delhi and Ghaziabad to reach Aligarh.

Describing the service as a major relief to thousands of commuters, Gurjar said that a longstanding demand of the residents of the region that had been fulfilled.

The railway’s was the largest public transportation network due to cheaper fares. This service will not only benefit commuters from Palwal and Hodal, but it will come as handy for the residents of NCR of UP to travel to Delhi and back.
