Yamunanagar, February 1
Two hundred doctors associated with the Yamunanagar chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) today took oath against foeticide and sex selection tests here on Sunday.
IMA district president Dr Anil Aggrawal administered the oath to the doctors, who included owners of ultrasound centres and nursing homes. They pledged to fight foeticide and impart education and social security to girls.
On the occasion, 14 doctor couples who have two daughters only were honoured. These included Dr Rajan Sharma, Dr Narender Kashyap, Dr Aditaya Goel, Dr KB Gupta, Dr Amulaya Aggrawal, Dr Sandeep Gupta, Dr Rajesh Bansal, Dr Sachin Garg, Dr Dhirender Soni, Dr Narender Kalia, Dr Amit Sethi, Dr TP Singh, Dr Navneet Jain and Dr Ved Keshwani.
“Being called murderers by the Prime Minister has touched the hearts of the doctors and the IMA Yamunanagar wants to be the first to wash off this stigma. We will be the first to expel any doctor indulging in foeticide and he or she will be socially boycotted,” said Dr Aggrawal.
