As many as 23 applicants, who turned up for the Punjab Police recruitment rally for the posts of constable at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), have tested positive for dope in the past four days. Today, seven candidates were disqualified for substance abuse (drug addiction). Earlier, seven candidates tested positive on July 29, five on July 28 and four on the first day of rally on July 27.
Senior police officials said a total of 400 applicants were called for the recruitment rally for the posts of constable today. Of them 349 appeared for the test.
One hundred and three candidates passed the physical test and 246 were disqualified. The police found 62 candidates wanting in the height qualification. As many as 167 candidates were disqualified in the race trial and 10 failed in the long jump test. Yesterday, of 400 applicants, only 336 turned up at the rally. Only 59 qualified while 239 were disqualified in the physical test. The police officials said seven candidates tested positive for dope, 51 failed to qualify the height criteria and 173 were disqualified in race and 11 in long jump. The officials said recruitment process would continue the next month also.
