The Child Line and Child Protection Department rescued three child labourers from a restaurant in Ambala City today evening. The children belong to Uttar Pradesh and have been working in the restaurant as labourers.
District Child Protection Officer Megha Singla said she received information that six child labourers were working in the restaurant and living in poor conditions. The children were taken to the civil hospital at Ambala City for a medical exam. They were later sent to a shelter home in Ambala Cantt. The final decision on their fate would be taken after a meeting of the Child Welfare Council tomorrow.
Singla said the children’s parents would also be informed and legal action would be taken against the restaurant owner.
