State head of GVK EMRI Mansih Tinku said the free van service had played a big role in promoting safe motherhood. Beside picking and dropping women at government hospitals, the vans have also been serving children, who need critical care and are provided free medical care under the National School Health Programme. Ninety ambulances are engaged for Khushiyon Ki Sawari and they have covered about one crore KM.—TNS
