As many as 45 files pertaining to building maps have gone missing from the record of the municipal council (MC), Bahadurgarh, raising a serious question mark over its functioning.

The MC secretary has lodged a complaint with the Bahadurgarh City police station seeking appropriate action into the matter.

The police have sent back the complaint, asking the MC secretary to mention the names of those officials who are, as per rules, responsible for negligence so that they can be put on notice to initiate the probe, said sources.

“A total of 45 files of building maps were deposited with the council office in May, 2014. All these files were accorded approval, but were not available in the record ever since. These are urgent and important in nature so legal action should be taken into the matter,” said the secretary in the complaint.

The sources said the matter came to light when the council authorities examined the record of building maps for furnishing it to the Vigilance Bureau, which was probing anomalies in the building map approval fee.

As per the sources, the audit inspection of building map approval fee had exposed serious anomalies some months ago. The MC had suffered losses amounting to lakhs as officials concerned charged fee less than the prescribed amount for approving building maps in Bahadurgarh.

The audit officer had recommended recovery of loss from the erring officials and disciplinary action against them, but no action had been taken in this respect so far.

The sources said getting building plans sanctioned with much less fee was going on in Bahadurgarh for the past several years. It was for the first time that this had been exposed by audit inspection.

“An inquiry cannot be held without getting names of officials responsible for keeping the record of such files. We have asked the MC secretary to name such officials in the complaint so that an inquiry can be initiated into the matter,” said Vishnu Prasad, incharge of the Bahadurgarh City police station.
