7-yr-old mauled to death by leopard

A seven-year-old boy, identified as Deepak, was mauled to death by a leopard in Kaljikhal block of Pauri Garhwal district last evening.

Deepak was playing in the courtyard of his house at Sarkyana village in Kaljikhal block when the leopard attacked him.

When his mother found him missing, she, along with villagers, began searching for him. Deepak’s body was found in the nearby forests.

The agitated villagers have sought prompt action against the beast. Meanwhile, the Forest Department has deployed its personnel to trap the leopard.

Carcass of leopard found

A forest patrolling team found the carcass of a female leopard at Raiwala in Haridwar. The area falls in the Rajaji National Park. The carcass of the leopard showed signs of struggle. Hairs of wild boars were also found alongside.

Rajaji forest officials said the leopard was nearly three-year-old. Prima facie, it seemed that it died after a fight with wild boars.
