8 of family killed in Naraingarh accident

Eight persons were killed after the vehicle they were travelling in collided head on with a dumper on the Naraingarh-Sadhora road near Gadauli village in Ambala this morning.

There were 11 occupants in the vehicle, seven of whom died on the spot. The dumper, which was carrying stones, overturned. Three of the injured were referred to the PGI and GMCH in Chandigarh in a serious condition.

The Tavera, with a marriage party, was on its way from Mauli village in Panchkula to Ambehta village in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, when the accident took place. As the vehicle reached Gadauli village around 8:30 am, a tyre burst. The driver lost control over the vehicle and it collided head on with the dumper. The driver of the dumper fled from the spot.

The victims were rushed to the Naraingarh Civil Hospital, where seven of them were declared brought dead. Four of them were referred to the PGI. The driver of the Tavera succumbed to his injuries on the way. Heart-rending scenes were witnessed at the hospital. Kin of deceased were inconsolable.

The deceased were identified as Hukam Singh (37), Sonu (26), Kam Singh (40), Abhimanyu (55), Rajkumar (48), Angrej (33), Dhum Singh (55) and Kuldeep (25). The injured were identified as Jony (24), Yogesh (12) and Vishu (16).

Abhimanyu, Rajkumar, Kam Singh, Hukam Singh, Angrej and Sonu belonged to a family of Bras village inKarnal district.

They reached Mauli village in Panchkula yesterday to be a part of the marriage party. They were relatives of the groom, Sanjay. Dhum Singh, Kuldeep, Jony, Yogesh and Vishu belonged to Panchkula district.

Following the shortage of doctors at the Naraingarh hospital, two doctors were rushed from the CHC in Shehzadpur.
