Visitors to Head Post Office, Bharat Nagar Chowk, faced a lot of inconvenience today as the system collapsed for about one hour due to power failure. The visitors, specially students, Army men and senior citizens got stuck.
Brij Bhushan Sood, a senior citizen, said, “I came to deposit money for my Postal Life Insurance Policy. One of the employees attending to this counter could not deposit my amount as the computer at that counter failed to upload. So, I shifted to another counter. As I was depositing the amount, the dealing hand clerk told me that my policy will mature this year only. However, the cover of my passbook mentioned the maturity year as 2015 while inside the passbook it was 2016. After getting to know that the policy will mature in thisyear, I approached a dealing hand employee and asked him to show me the status of my policy buthe refused on theplea that it would be shown only when itgets matured.”
Some students who was to send their registered forms for appearing in some exam also faced problems. Surinder Kumar, father of a student, said, “There are no sign boards as which is the registry counter and which is the stamps counter. First, we stood up in a queue for getting our registry done. After around 30 minutes when our turn came, we were told that registry is done at some other counter. All this wasted a lot of timeand energy. The postal authorities should streamline things.”
Another senior citizen who was there with his wife said, “There is no separate standing place for senior citizens. There is no inquiry counter to assist the visitors who are uneducated.”
