A first: UT Admn to use drone for aerial survey
Chandigarh, September 23
Chandigarh will be the first city where unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) drones will be used for aerial survey of its assets.
DC Ajit Balaji Joshi reviewed the technology at a meeting held here today. Joshi said the arrangements have been made in collaboration with PEC, Chandigarh, and IIIT, Delhi. He said Sector 7, Chandigarh, will be the first area to be surveyed on a pilot basis. The technology of unmanned aerial vehicle is capable of delivering cadastral maps overlaid on the digital elevation map. The aim of the 3D-GIS mapping using drones is to build a cost effective and efficient system in order to map and measure each and every corner/dimension or the legacy data of every property in the UT, Chandigarh. It will also help in gathering data using the drone technology to generate high resolution 3D maps/imaginaries of Chandigarh. — TNS
