Ludhiana, March 28
AAP convenor Sucha Singh Chhotepur said senior advocate HS Phoolka will travel 100 kms on cycle with an AAP team from Ludhiana to Chandigarh in protest against the VIP culture. The rally will start on March 29 from Ludhiana and will reach Chandigarh the next day.
He said the cycle rally was being held in protest against the VIP culture and the wastage of public money on VIPs.
“The government has no money to pay salaries to its employees but it is spending lavishly on VIPs. The salary of the legislators has been doubled but the old-age pension is yet to reach the beneficiaries. Even scholarship to differently-abled has not been paid,” he added.
Chhotepur demanded that the employees at the lower level should be paid first. “The ministers and his staff should be paid after everyone else in the department,” he said.
The rally will also highlight the issue of the drug menace and the government’s failure in running the de-addiction centres properly.
