Leader of Opposition in the Haryana Assembly Abhay Singh Chautala today fielded his wife Kanta Chautala and son Karan Singh Chautala in the Zila Parishad poll.
In Fatehabad district, former chief parliamentary secretary Prahlad Singh Gillankhera’s son Anandvir Singh Gillankhera filed his nominations before ADC Rajesh Jogpal from Zone 1 of the Zila Parishad, Fatehabad.
Kanta Chautala filed her nomination papers from Zone 4, while Karan Singh filed his papers from Zone 12 of Zila Parishad, Sirsa, before the Assistant Returning Officer Narendra Pal Singh Malik.
Kanta’s Ward no. 4 comes under the Dabwali Assembly segment of Sirsa, which is represented by Abhay’s elder brother Ajay Singh Chautala’s wife Naina Singh Chautala. Zone 4 comprises of Kaluana, Godikan, Ahmedpur Darewala, Samgarh, Risaliyakhera, Rattakhera, Rampura, Chakjalu, Bijjuwali, Goriwala, Rampura Bishnoian, Jhoothikhera and Mathdadu villages of the Dabwali Assembly seat.
After Naina Singh, Kanta Chautala will be the second woman to have entered active politics from the Chautala clan.
Karan Singh’s Ward no.12, however, comes under his father Abhay Singh’s Ellenabad Assembly segments.
The zone comprises Jamal, Kutiana, Barasari, Jorhiyan, Rampura Dhillon, Gosaiana, Kheri, Hanjeera, Ludesar, Randhawa, Darba Kalan, Rampura Sahni and Roopawas villages.
Addressing mediapersons, Abhay welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision on the panchayat poll.
He said the BJP government had introduced education clause to delay the elections, as it was shying away from the elections.
He demanded suitable compensation to farmers whose crops had been damaged in the pest attack.
He said the INLD supported candidates would win all 24 seats in the Zila Parishad, Sirsa.
