The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today announced awards under the ‘Best Play Script Competition’ in Kashmiri, Dogri, Gojri, Pahari, Punjabi, Urdu and Hindi languages.
Secretary of the academy, Dr Aziz Hajni, said the awards would be given in order to promote the skill of writing stage plays in different languages spoken in the state.
Dr Javaid Rahi, chief editor and in charge officer of the award scheme, said a panel of three judges was constituted by the Academy to recommend the awards in each language. He said ‘Anjaam’ by Dr AM Nishtar was adjudged the best play in the Kashmiri language while Ratan Doshi’s play ‘Kala Khoon’ was adjudged the winner in the Dogri segment.
In Gojri language, Choudhary Hassan Parwaz’s ‘Khakan ki Kuli’ was chosen the best play while Parvaiz Manoos’ play bagged top honours in the Pahari section.
Dr Baljeet Raina’s ‘Mera Qasour Ki Hai’ was adjudged the best play in Punjabi language. In Urdu segment, Parvaiz Malik bagged the award for his play ‘Wo Darwaza Khul Jayega’.
Dr Rahi said Hindi play ‘Agni’, by Chhatarpal, would also be awarded.
