Actor suffers bullet injury

Muktsar: Actor Atlee Brar had a close shave on Sunday night as two motorcycle-borne youths allegedly opened fire on him near Malout town. A bullet hit him close to his shoulder in the back, said the police. He was first taken to the Malout Civil Hospital and later referred to Bathinda. The Malout City police have registered a case of attempt to murder against two unidentified persons. ASI Vipan Kumar said, “The victim's statement has been recorded. He along with one person was going to Dabwali Malko Ki village when two youths opened fire on him.” TNS

Woman, son murdered

Tarn Taran: A woman and her differently abled son were murdered with sharp-edged at a farmhouse in Lalpur village, 15 km from here, on Monday. The police have registered a case under Sections 302, 454 and 34 of the IPC in this regard on the statement of policeman Sukhdev Singh, husband of the deceased woman. The deceased have been identified as Bhajan Kaur (45) and her son Gurpreet Singh (22). Bhajan Kaur was killed while she was working in the kitchen of the house, whereas Gurpreet Singh was murdered in a room of the house. OC

Kisan Parliament on Dec 21

Chandigarh: The Bhartiya Kisan Union (Rajewal) has decided to convene “Kisan Parliament” in Chandigarh on December 21 wherein the union will invite leaders of political parties contesting the Assembly polls and ask each party to speak out its policies dealing with farmers and farm labourers. Union president Balbir Singh Rajewal said, “We will ask all party leaders as to how their respective parties will deal with problem of farm crises, unemployment, inter-state water dispute and other such issues concerning Punjab.” TNS
