Srinagar, April 29
Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Party Nationalist president Ghulam Hassan Mir has asked the state and the Central governments to rethink on their aggressive approach toward Kashmir and asked them to involve an inclusive approach in which all the political and civil society groups are made part of the holistic approach to deal with the grim situation in the Valley.
In a statement issued here on Friday, Mir said, “there is a need to change the attitude and approach towards the people as both civilians and security forces are our people. We cannot put them in adversarial roles. The need is to find a common ground to address the issues.”
The past experience, he said, had been that the government-only approach had always backfired.
“The governments’ perspectives of the situation rarely match with the realities on the ground because of the natural gap that exists between the government and the people in such situations,” Mir said.
