Aim to have gender ratio of 950 girls per 1,000 boys in 6 months: CM

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has stated that the state government aims at having the gender ratio of 950:1000 in six months to meet the international standards.
“The gender ratio in the state, which was 837 when the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao drive was launched, has already crossed 900 mark and our next target is to take it to 950,” Khattar said while addressing a gathering today.
The Chief Minister was here to inaugurate Shri Ram rangshala-cum-open-air theatre, Dr BR Ambedkar Community Centre and a solid waste treatment plant set up at a cost of nearly Rs 24 crore.
The CM pointed out that of the 1,650 announcements made since the formation of the state government , 300 had been completed and work was in progress on 600 others.
He maintained that the projects lying unfinished during the tenure of the previous regime(s) were being completed. Khattar asserted that efforts were being made to ensure the safe return of Amarnath pilgrims belonging to the state and he had talked to the Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir in this regard.
Later, the Chief Minister felicitated the MDU alumni who had qualified for the Rio Olympics as well as the World University Games.
Addressing the sportspersons, the CM said Haryana would be made a sports hub of the country and sports infrastructure developed at the grassroots level during its golden-jubilee year. He laid the foundation stone of a cricket stadium named after Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel on the university campus. The Chief Minister also released a book titled ‘The Daughter Deficit: Cognitive Re-engineering of Misogyny’ written by Dr Promila Batra, a professor at the Department of Psychology and Dean of Social Sciences at the university.
