Girls outshone boys in Class X results declared by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBSE) here today.
Besides, private schools seemed to have done better than government schools. All first five toppers were from private schools.
Akshima Thakur from S Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district, topped the exams scoring 98.57 per cent marks.
The second position was jointly occupied by Laikta Khidtta of Aradhana Public School, Rohru in Shimla district, and Ira Sharma from Holy Himalayan Senior Secondary School, Chamba district. Both of them scored 98.29 per cent marks.
The third position was jointly occupied by three students, Vishali from Little Flower Public School, Durana in Kutlehar of Una district, Rakshita Sharma, Trisungam Public School, Rewalsar, Mandi district, and Anchal Sharma, Vision Convent School, Ghumarwin. All students scored 98.14 per cent marks.
Muskan Sehgal from Bharti Vidyapeeth Public School, Baijnath in Kangra district, bagged the fourth position scoring 98 per cent marks.
The fifth position was bagged jointly by Kamal Preet Singh of SVM School (boys), Roura, Sector-2, in Bilaspur district, and Devesh Rana of Gurukul Public School, Pakka Paroh, Amb in Una district. Both of them scored 97.86 per cent marks.
The spokesperson of the education board said this year 1,22,614 students had appeared for Class X exams out of which 81,304 had cleared and 16,616 received compartment in one subject. The overall result percentage remained at 68 per cent.
The HPBSE has again scored over other boards in the region in declaring the results. Earlier, the board had declared the 10+2 results in just 25 days of the examination.
