Alumni beat Oak Grove students in hockey

Oak Grove School alumni won the 17th DM Swing Memorial Inter-School Hockey Tournament, held at Oak Grove School, in Jharipani, Mussoorie, today.

Major General Anand Singh Rawat, a former student of the school, inaugurated the final match.

The final was played between Oak Grove School team-A and the Ex-Oak Grovian team, which lifted the trophy defeating the former 3-1. The first goal for the Ex-Oak Grove team was scored by Suhail Ansari in the 48th minute while Imran and Azhar scored the second and the third goals, respectively.

From Oak Grove School, the only goal was scored by Shadab Alam in the 9th minute of the match.

The trophy of the best player of the tournament was awarded to Aman Singh Aswal of Oak Grove School. The trophy of the best goal keeper was given to Kumar Vaibhav of Oak Grove School team-A. The most promising player of the tournament was Saif Ansari of the Ex-Oak-Grovian team.

Major General AS Rawat gave away the trophy to the winning team. Himself an ardent hockey player, Major General Rawat appreciated the efforts of the school in organising such a thrilling hockey tournament. He also remembered the days of his school life.

JP Pandey, principal of the school, thanked the guests and said the main aim of organising the tournament was to promote hockey and provide a platform to the players. Suresh Bountiyal, Vinod Bhadula, Rahul Chauhan and Mahendra Kakkar were the refrees for the match.
