Chandigarh, April 15
Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today ordered a series of initiatives to ensure planned, sustainable and holistic development of Amritsar, with special focus on the walled city.
Presiding over a high-level meeting to review ongoing works in the city, the Chief Minister directed the officials concerned to ensure transparency in the execution of projects such as the Smart City, Amrut and Hriday. He also called for fixing responsibility for all “ill-conceived” projects that caused huge losses to the exchequer.
The CM instructed the officials to revisit the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project started by the previous Congress government (2002-07) for the walled city. He directed the officials to initiate the process for the replacement of old water and sewerage pipes in the walled city.
Those who attended the meeting included Local Government Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, CM’s Chief Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar and Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh.
