Amarnath yatra: Chopper booking begins

The advance online booking of helicopter tickets for the forthcoming annual Amarnath yatra will commence tomorrow at 10 am, said PK Tripathi, Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.

The board has made arrangements with Pawan Hans Limited and Global Vectra Helicorps Limited for providing helicopter services on the Neelgrath-Panjtarni-Neelgrath sector and the Himalayan Heli Services Private Limited for providing services on the Pahalgam-Panjtarni-Pahalgam sector, Tripathi said.

The CEO said online helicopter ticket booking facility would be available to the intending pilgrims from March 20 on the website of the companies concerned.

The heli-operators will also launch advance booking on March 20 through designated agents, Tripathi said.

The CEO further said based on competitive bidding, the one way per passenger helicopter fare for the Neelgrath-Panjtarni and Pahalgam-Panjtarni sectors has been fixed at Rs 1,950 and Rs 4,190 respectively.

The pilgrims, who wish to avail helicopter service, are not required to seek advance registration through the designated bank branches as their applications for purchasing helicopter tickets contain the required information and shall be treated as yatra permits for undertaking the pilgrimage, the CEO said. However, all such yatris will not be allowed to avail the helicopter services unless they produce the required compulsory health certificate issued by the authorised doctor/institutes.
