Ancient marma therapy being recognised globally: Dr Joshi

A week-long Marma Science and Marma Medical Therapy Master Trainer Training Programme concluded at Maharishi Charak Auditorium at Gurukul Ayurvedic College of Gurukul Kangri University here today.
Renowned marma chikitsa expert Dr Sunil Joshi, while addressing the concluding session, said marma is an ancient Indian medical practice based on the healing touch therapy. “Its an ayurvedic science that focuses on 107 sensitive points in the human body for curing various ailments,” said Joshi, adding that its was practised by Indian sages since ancient times even before yoga and other forms of medical practices appeared globally.
He referred to Maharishi Sushustrat, who propounded the marma therapy, and claimed that it was without any side-effects. Even the western world was fast realising its value.
Director of Ayush, Yunani and Ayurveda Dr Alok Tripahti said the marma therapy was being practised by both ayurvedic and allopathic doctors, as it doesn’t require costly equipment or medicines to cure patients.
He said in Vedias, Puranas and Upanishads one could find references of the marma therapy. Former diplomat CM Bhandari said since ancient times seers practised marma chiktisa and ayurvedic students should come forward to take this legacy forward.
Master trainers, doctors Dr Vandana Dangwal, Pramita Uniyal, Meera Rawat, Rakesh Joshi, Shailendra Mamgain, Pradeep Gupta, Vijay Singh, Amit Tiwari, Amit Uniyal, Dev Chand Pandey, Vidya Pandey, Jagdish Chand Sati, Chetan, Dinesh Sharma, Vijay Kumar, Ashutosh Pant, Ram, RC Pal, Naveen Chaudhary and Reena Ahuja were present on the occasion.
