Anganwadi centres to go solar

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has given approval to the installation of solar energy devices in all 25,962 anganwadi centres in the state at a cost of Rs 44 crore.

This was stated by Women and Child Development Minister Kavita Jain today. She said this scheme would reduce the electricity bills of anganwadi centres by Rs 12 crore annually.

She said fans and LED lights would be installed in the centres. The use of solar energy to run three LED lights and two fans would be encouraged in anganwadi centres, she added.

The minister said the scheme had been prepared for adoption of anganwadi centres under the ‘Hamari Phulwari Yojana’ for providing facilities to children coming to these centres. — TNS
