‘Anney Kaaney’— a journey from darkness to light

The two-day drama festival, “Shaggufe -2016”, organised by the Impact Arts in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Affairs, Haryana, concluded with the staging of a Punjabi play, “Anney Kaaney”, at Randhawa Auditorium here today.
Written by Sahitya Akademi Award winner Dr Atamjit and directed By Baninder Bunny, the play showed when knowledge enlightens our mind and crystallises our thoughts, a revolution is bound to take place.
This fact was illustrated with a symbolic story of five labourers who live an ignorant life and work for a one-eyed master. With a view to exploit them to his benefit, the master (Surinder Singh) makes them wear glasses so that they do not see the light of the day or realise the truth.
However, Baninder Bunny (Khoji), motivates them to take off their eyeglasses to let the light of truth remove ignorance. As they follow Khoji’s advice, they realise their chief’s plan.
With the help of Khoji, they start efforts for their own resurrection make the master pay for his selfish deeds.
Baninder Banny was the lead actor accompanied by Surinder Singh, Vivek Roy Khanna, Nikhil Mehta, Navdeep Bajwa, Gurjant Singh, Ravitej Brar and Jaswinder Singh.
