Girls in the district outshone boys in the Class XII examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), results of which were announced today.
The pass percentage of girls stood at 93.15 while 86.92 per cent boys came out with flying colours. The overall percentage remained at 89.78 this year.
“The district has seen two per cent increase in the pass percentage compared to the last year,” says RJ Khanderao, regional officer, CBSE.
In the district, independent private school pass percentage is 91.97 for girls and 84.27 for boys. The pass percentage of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) was comparatively better with 96 per cent girls and 95.12 per cent boys clearing the examinations. Significantly, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) registered the pass percentage of 100 per cent for both boys and girls. Students of Bhavan Vidyalaya made their school proud as they emerged toppers in the district in three of the four streams.
Ashima Sharma of Bhavan Vidyalaya, who scored 96.6 per cent marks in the humanities stream, topped the district.
“The credit goes to my teachers and the hard work I had put in. I was expecting 95 per cent marks but am delighted on getting more than that,” says Ashima, who aspires to become a lawyer.
Right behind her is Saksham Kumar of the same school, who scored 96.4 per cent marks in humanities. A keen writer and the school head boy had many responsibilities to shoulder, still he made it big in academics.
All students of commerce and humanities of the school scored above 80 per cent marks while 34 students scored more than 90 per cent.
Aparana Jha of CL DAV Public School, Sector 11, Panchkula, brought laurels to the school by scoring highest marks (96.2 per cent) in the medical stream in the district. “I would wake up early in the morning and never took stress as I also enjoyed movies. I used to study for around five to six hours a day. It is the focus that made the difference for me,” says Aparana, who hails from Bihar and aims to become a cancer specialist as her grandfather had this disease and she wants to cure every cancer patient.
Students of St Soldier’s School scored brilliantly in the commerce stream with around 40 per cent them crossing the 90 mark, claimed the school. Tushar Gupta of the school and Harnoor Saini of Bhavan Vidyalaya claimed the top position in commerce with 95 per cent marks.
Ishita Pandey of Bhavan Vidyalaya topped in the non-medical stream with 96.2 per cent marks followed by Manasvi Gupta of the DPS, Pinjore, with 94 per cent.
