An ASI was injured at a naka near Bakarpur village today when a car driver hit him and fled.

According to the police, Tarsem Lal had signalled a Honda City car coming from the Chandigarh side to stop at the naka. The driver slowed the car, but later fled away after hitting the ASI. The injured official was admitted to Max Hospital.

The police have arrested the driver, Nitin Bhaskar, and impounded his car.

A case under Sections 279 and 337 of the IPC has been registered in this regard. — OC
