Jagdev Singh Jassowal (79), popularly known as the “Baba Bohar of Punjabi culture”, passed away this morning at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in Ludhiana after a brief illness.
He was the political advisor to former Chief Minister Justice Gurnam Singh. He remained the general secretary of the Akali Dal when Master Tara Singh was the party president. In 1972, Jassowal became the founder-director of the Youth Welfare Department in the state. He became MLA from Raikot (Ludhiana) in 1980. — TNS
