Health Minister Anil Vij said today that the Punjab Assembly resolution on the SYL was like a head-on collision between the judiciary and legislature.

Talking to mediapersons here today, he said the arrogant attitude of the Punjab Government was not healthy for democracy. The Punjab Chief Minister should honour the verdict of the Supreme Court in the SYL matter, said the minister.

He said the Punjab Government had been hyping the issue for its political benefit, as the Punjab Assembly elections were due for the next year.

Referring to the Jat reservation issue, he said the Chief Minister had already assured the Jat leaders that the government was finding out some concrete solutions to grant reservation to them under the OBC quota for which they should wait till March 31 instead of giving an ultimatum.

Criticising the Congress, he said the party was not attending the Assembly session deliberately, as it did not have the moral courage to face the members. He said the Congress not only escaped from the all-party meeting, but its MLAs did not come back to the Assembly session also even when their suspension was revoked by the Speaker.

Replying to a question, he said Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had betrayed his native land Haryana by supporting Punjab’s stand on the SYL. He should confine himself to Delhi instead of indulging in Haryana and Punjab matters, he added.

Karnal: Health Minister Anil Vij today hit out at the Punjab Government on the SYL issue.

He said it was a direct confrontation between the Supreme Court and legislatives, but they were hopeful that the Centre would maintain rule of law.

Terming the move of Punjab Government to denotify the land acquired for the SYL as unconstitutional, Vij said it was the land of Haryana and for which they had already paid.
