Veteran journalist and senior citizen Raj Kanwar, on behalf of Dr Dharmendra Bhandari, presented a biography of Nani Palkhivala to Governor KK Paul here yesterday. It is one of the most authentic biographies published under the title “Nani Palkhivala — God’s Gift to India.”
Bhandari is a well known author. The other major books to his credit are “RK Laxman — The Uncommon Man”, Mosaic of Faith — Places of Worship in India” and “Lord Ganesha — Artwork by RK Laxman”. His daughters Hema and Savitri are co-authors in Palkhivala’s biography.
Tina A Ambani, chairperson of the Harmony for Silvers Foundation that published the king-sized biography that looks more like a coffee table book, describes Palkhivala as “The conscience keeper of the nation, an impassioned advocate of free enterprise, a crusader for constitutional liberties and champion of human rights. Nani Palkhivala’s contributions to the Indian economy and jurisprudence have been extraordinary. Indeed, from the stories I have heard, he was a man far ahead of his time.”
The Doon Citizens Council that was founded by Kanwar had also honoured Nani Palkhivala with its coveted ‘Pride of Nation’ award some years ago.
