BJP activists, led by party leader RS Negi, held a protest in front of the office of the SDO of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) at Vikasnagar here today. The activists protested against inflated electricity bills in the region and shouted slogans against the UPCL.

The protesters demanded that the UPCL should take effective steps to check provisional billing in Vikasnagar and adjoining localities in the district. They said the UPCL should ensure uninterrupted power supply to consumers.

Negi said they had submitted a memorandum to UPCL officials for changing damaged meters, but to no avail.

He expressed concern that the UPCL had served notices on electricity consumers who had timely paid their electricity bills. Akash Panwar, Vijayram Sharma and Dr OP Panwar took part in the protest.
