The meeting was organised by state president of the Mahila Morcha Priya Sethi and chaired by BJP state general secretary (Org) Ashok Koul.

Ashok Koul, while appreciating the contribution of Mahila Morcha activists in winning record Assembly seats in the recently held elections in the state, said women constituted about half of the population and their role in electing representatives for Assembly and Parliament was important.

He said while the Mahila Morcha achieved success in mobilising the womenfolk during the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, their job was not over as now they were to devote time towards the party’s membership drive. He expressed hope that the Mahila Morcha would achieve the set target of membership.

Priya Sethi said the Mahila Morcha would launch the membership drive on January 25 and register a minimum of one lakh members from the Jammu province by reaching the women in particular in all the districts. The membership drive in Kashmir and Ladakh would be undertaken later and there also a large number of new members would be enrolled by the Mahila Morcha.

Suresh Jamwal, Purnima Sharma, Sheela Handoo, Kamla Gupta, Raj Rani, Anuradha Charak, Anju Dogra, Sanjita Dogra, Updesh Andotra, Sureshta Jamwal, Pushpa Wazir, Sonia Gupta, Neeru Anand, Bimla Padha and Shakun Sethi attended the meeting.
