Block samiti heads rue lack of funds

Chairpersons of block samitis deliberated on several issues at a meeting held here today. They lamented lack of adequate funds for various development projects in their respective areas.

Chand Singh Kundu, chairman of the Lakhan Majra Block Samiti, said, “We sought votes in the name of development, however, we have not received funds for the same till now.”

Raj Kumar, a member of the Palwal Block Samiti, said on the one hand, the state government made tall claims of strengthening the Panchayati Raj Institutions, while on the other it was not releasing grants for development works.

Many other heads and members of the block samitis rued they had not received honorarium promised to them.

Meanwhile, the Development and Panchayat Minister OP Dhankhar is likely to hold a meeting with representatives of the block samitis later this month.
