Book on child protection released

It was important to shake apathy on issues of child protection. Institute of Correctional Administration’s Deputy Director Dr Upneet Lalli said shared soon after the release of her book “Child Protection – Rights and the Law”.
The book was released by UT Home Secretary-cum-IAS officer Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Chandigarh Administration. Appreciating her efforts, he said the book encapsulated the laws on child rights and child protection in a simplified manner. He also expressed his desire of making the book available in library of all UT schools.
Former Punjab and Haryana High Court judges, including Justice Iqbal Singh and Justice SN Aggarwal, RGNUL Vice-Chancellor PS Jaswal, CCPCR chairperson Devi Sirohi, Prof Nishtha Jaswal from PU Department of Laws and IAS officer RC Nayyar were also present.
Introducing the book, Prof Nistha Jaswal said it covered all aspects of not just law, but issues of child sexual abuse as well. It also provided tips for parents and teachers. Dr Lalli added it was important to break silence on issues of child abuse and empower the children about their safety and rights. A safe city for children could become a smart city.
