A book depicting the life and achievements of late JN Kapur, founder of DAV Institutions, Yamunanagar, a philanthropist and freedom fighter, was presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Vijay Kapur, chairman of the institutions, along with his elder sister Swarn Mahendru, social activist, and Lalit Khanna, an advocate of Supreme Court of India, presented the book to the PM on November 22. Paddy husk set afire

A huge stock of paddy husk was set afire at Rolad Latifpur village of this district on Thursday night. The entire stock was burnt to ashes before fire tenders reached the spot. A case in this connection has been registered against unidentified persons at the Mohana police station. Farmers of the village Rajesh Nain and Krishan Nain stated that farmers had stocked paddy husk of around 160 acres at a field outside the village, which was reduced to ashes causing loss of lakhs to them. Woman raped

A resident of Panipat was allegedly raped by an acquaintance, identified as Alam Hussain of Pathar Garh in Panipat district, at a hotel near Larsoli village on Thursday night. She was promised a job by the accused. After registering a case on the basis of the victim’s complaint, the police on Friday arrested the accused. He has been sent to judicial custody. OC

Forcible abortion alleged

A woman, resident of Shahzadpur, on Friday lodged a complaint at the Mahila police station accusing her husband Hemant of Hubli Khurd in Delhi, his parents Mahavir and Sunita and younger brother Suman of torture for dowry and forcibly getting her aborted. OC

62 more KU courses go digital

Extending its digitisation programme, the Kurukshetra University (KU) has covered 62 more courses on its campus here. The automation project was initially introduced in 36 on-campus engineering courses. Students have been given log-in IDs to gain access to various services and facilities provided by the university. Arjun Singh Mann has won gold in the junior men’s skeet event at the 60th All India National Shooting Championships in Jaipur, Rajasthan. He scored 15/16 in the finals. He had won gold in the same category last year too. Arjun is a student of BA Honours at Hansraj College in Delhi. TNS
