A local court today succeeded in convincing an estranged couple to shun their differences at least on the birthday of their eight-year-old boy and allowed the boy to celebrate his birthday with both of them.

It was a different experience for Harnoor on his birthday this time, as he celebrated his birthday in the retiring room of a Judge. He relished the cake with his parents, Jjudge and the court staff.

Additional Sessions Judge Jaspal Verma took this initiative, probably in order to break the deadlock between the estranged couple. He also gave a birthday gift to the child.

The couple is fighting a divorce petition. Harneet Kaur had filed a petition seeking divorce against her husband Avtar Singh. The boy is living with his father.

The mother, too, wanted to spend time with her son on his birthday. But it was not possible in the prevailing situation as the father was not willing to send his son to his wife’s house.

Finally, the court provided a platform to bridge this gap.

After the birthday celebrations, the court adjourned the case to September 12.
