A class VI student of Boys Higher Secondary School, Rajouri, who was putting up at Government Boys Pahari Hostel, has been reportedly missing since November last year.

However, the hostel warden allegedly has not brought the issue into the notice of the police.

The hostel was closed for winter vacation on December 20 and when the boy did not reach home his father approached the warden. He was though told that the boy was not a regular at the hostel.

The hostel authorities reportedly told him that they felt that the boy might have been living with some family members as he had done that in the past too.

Having failed to trace his son, Dev Raj with the help of some social activists, on Tuesday, moved an application to the Chingus police station.

Sunil Parihar, police post in charge, said as per the statement of Dev Raj Sharma the boy had been missing since December 20.

We have registered a missing report in this connection and started the investigation, the officer said.

“As the matter was brought to the notice of the police only yesterday, we have started investigation and soon the hostel officials will be quizzed,” Parihar said.

Bashir Khan, hostel warden, told The Tribune that the boy was a grown up child and was not a regular at the hostel after his T-1 examinations in November last year.

Khan also claimed that boy’s parents were informed about his absence from the hostel.

“Last month one of the students living in the hostel saw the boy working with a passenger bus at Rajouri bus stand. When the boy remained absent from the hostel for a few more days, we informed his parents,” the warden said.

We thought that his parents are aware about the situation and that is why we did not approach the police, Khan said, adding that the father of the missing student was advised to locate him at the bus stand.
