BSNL is installing new telecom towers for providing 3G services to its customers in rural areas of the Almora division.

“We have begun the process to install the 3G network in rural areas of Almora, Bageshwar, Champawat and Pithoragarh districts and are installing base trans-receiver station (BTS) facilities on BSNL towers. More than 100 BTS equipment will be installed on BSNL towers in these districts by March next year,” said AK Gupta, general manager of BSNL, Almora division.

According to BSNL sources, the move will provide better speed of internet to its consumers and every subdivision, block and village will be covered under the programme. “We have already installed 14 new BSNL towers with BTS facility and the work to install the BTS facility in other towers will be concluded by March next year,” said Gupta.
