Resentment prevails among consumers of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) over delay in delivery of telephone and mobile bills. Sources said that nearly 40 per cent of the telephone bills have not been delivered.
Customers rue that the BSNL had disconnected phone lines for nonpayment of bills they never received.
The BSNL has an agreement with the Postal Department for delivering the phone bills.
In a letter written to the postal authorities concerned, the Sub Divisional Officer of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited had complained against erratic distribution of phone bills in several areas, including Donga Bazar, Jayanti Vihar, Ujjain and Birta.
Sunil Kumar, General Manager, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, admitted that phone bills were not delivered to consumers.
He said the issue was raised with the Chief Postmaster General and the Director, Postal services, at a meeting recently.
The General Manager clarified that phone bills were not delivered due to staff crunch at the Postal Department, adding that the situation would improve in the days to come.
He said details of the consumers who had not received the bills was sent to the postal authorities.
Meanwhile, the consumers have demanded action against erring officials for causing harassment.
