They were provided bucks under the All-India Coordinated Research Project on Goat Improvement by the Gaddi Field Unit. Dr Katoch interacted with the farmers to know their problems and suggested them to spot out the male gaddi goats having higher growth rate so that they could be incorporated in the project for increasing the overall productivity of gaddi goats.
He also appreciated the efforts of Dr PK Dogra, principal investigator, and his team of scientists including Pankaj Sood, Shivani Katoch, Varun Sankhyan, Ankur Sharma, Sidharth Thakur and Parveen Sharma for their continued work in the state’s far-flung areas.
Dogra said this project was operational in 18 centres throughout the country with basic objective of improving goat productivity.
Under the project, approximately 1,000 migratory goats had been registered and were being monitored throughout the year by providing breeding, health care and nutritional inputs.
