Rakhis are in a new avatar this time with animation superheroes such as Chhota Bheem, Krishna, Superman, Spiderman and Ben 10 designed on these to attract the children.

In fact, the rakhi band will have a button attached to it to quickly fix it on the wrist without any fuss. With Raksha Bandhan just a day away, colourful and decorated rakhis, ranging from Rs 20 to 100 per piece, are available in the market.

Toy rakhis with music and lights come with a button band keeping in mind a child’s tender skin. These toy rakhis can sing, speak and at times squeak.

On being asked about the business during the festival, a small vendor in Sector 19, Mukesh, said this time attractive rakhis were in demand.

Seeya, a resident, said, “There are different kinds of rakhi available in the market. It is difficult for me to select one of these.” Priced between Rs 30 and Rs 100, these rakhis are a big hit among the youngsters.

A shopkeeper said that the demand of rakhis is more or less the same every year but the designs vary according to the trend. This year, there is a nominal rise in the cost of traditional rakhis but the price of designer rakhis with lighting and music depends on their design.
