Chandigarh: A case of criminal breach of trust has been registered against M/s Euro Cot Spin Ltd on the complaint of Satya Pal Singh, Assistant Registrar of companies Punjab and Chandigarh, Corporate Affairs Office, Sector 36. According to the police, they had received a complaint that the accused party had not paid fixed deposits of many small investors. A case has been registered at the Sector 36 police station and an investigation has been initiated. — TNS
Man booked for abetment of suicide
Chandigarh: A Hallo Majra resident has been arrested on the charges of abetment of suicide after his wife committed suicide on May 27. Niti (26) had committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Hallo Majra. The police were informed by the neighbours who got suspicious as the victim had not opened the door of the house for a day. Police officials said deceased’s husband Manjit Singh had allegedly provoked her to commit suicide. A case against Singh was registered on June 13 at the Sector 31 police station, on the complaint made by the victim’s kin. — TNS
Sector 21-B residents go without power
Chandigarh: Residents of Sector 21-B spent sleepless night on Tuesday after they faced outage for hours in the evening. Ravi Jain, a resident of the Sector 21 B said it was around 7 pm when the power supply snapped. He said after that they tried the number of the complaint centre but there was no response. Another resident Sumit Kumar said the electricity employees had been busy with Yoga Day preparations and the residents were left in the lurch. He said since they got no response from the complaint centre then where should they go? The residents of the other Sectors 23, 18, , 22, 23 41, and 46 also faced frequent power cuts throughout the day. — TNS
Unknown person booked for minor’s rape
Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Police have booked an unknown person for raping 16-year-old girl, a resident of Colony No 4. A case has been registered at the Industrial Area police station. The police said the victim had complained of stomach pain following which her kin took her to Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32. During the checkup, the doctors found that the victim was pregnant. The hospital informed the police about the incident. Police officials said the victim and her family did not tell the name of the accused following which a case against unknown person has been registered on the statement of the victim’s mother. — TNS
78 units of blood collected
Panchkula: Seventy-eight units of blood was collected at Alchemist Hospital, Panchkula, during a blood donation camp, which was organised to mark World Blood Donor Day. Dr Kamla Singh, Director General Health Services, Haryana, inaugurated the camp. Dr Vinay Verma, CEO, Alchemist Hospitals, was the first to donate blood. Dr Verma said the hospital had adopted the slogan ‘share life, give blood’, to draw attention to the role of voluntary donation systems. — TNS
Security app for elderly launched
Panchkula: In the midst of rising crime and abuse against the India’s elderly, charity working for senior citizens — HelpAge India, on Tuesday launched a security app for elders. The ‘HelpAge SOS’ App as it is called, was launched in Haryana by Dr KP Singh, IPS, Director General of Police, in Panchkula. SOS stands for ‘Save Our Seniors’. The app serves as a one-stop security measure for elders nationally, connecting them to the HelpAge Local Helplines across India.— TNS
