NEW DELHI, MARCH 28

Members of the Loktantra Suraksha Manch, a group representing various caste-based organisations, sat on a day long dharna here today seeking reservation for the Jats outside the existing 27 per cent quota for the OBCs.

Satish Yadav, president, Haryana Yadav Mahasabha, said they were not against the idea of reservation for the Jats and other groups, however, they should be given quota outside the OBC category. They also submitted a memorandum demanding action against perpetrators of violence during the Jat stir. Yadav alleged the culprits of violence were roaming freely with impunity whereas innocent people were being implicated in false cases.

They also demanded ‘Z Plus’ security for the BJP MP from Kurukshetra Raj Kumar Saini in view of threats to his life for opposing the Jat quota demand in the OBC category. Saini is also the president of the All India OBC Brigade.
