Casual leave facility for outsourced employees

The state government has decided to provide ten days of paid casual and sick leave each to the employees engaged under the Outsourcing Policy Part-II. The Chief Minister, Manohar Lal, has accorded his approval to the proposal.

An official spokesman said here today the leaves would accrue from the first date of joining of the employee. The Electronics and IT Department has been advised to amend its policy accordingly.

Under the Outsourcing Policy Part-I, the state engaged private agencies to deliver services. Private sector establishments are covered under the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958, wherein there is a provision for minimum seven paid casual leaves and seven paid sick leaves for employees.

Such agencies or establishments have been directed to strictly comply with the labour laws.
