Shimla, October 1
Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri and Ayurveda Minister Karan Singh yesterday termed the CBI raids at the residences of CM Virbhadra Singh on the day of his daughter’s marriage as undemocratic, unethical, motivated and cheap gimmicks.
In a joint statement issued here, the ministers said it was sad to know that Central investigating agencies were being pressurised to implicate Virbhadra in fabricated cases as he was the most popular Congress leader in the country and the state.
Raiding the residences of the Chief Minister on the day of the marriage of his daughter had exposed the BJP’s double face, they said.
Bharmouri and Karan said the income tax-related matter was already pending before various Income Tax Appellate Authorities and Courts. The CBI had already submitted its preliminary inquiry report to the Delhi HC.
The ministers questioned the CBI’s urgency without waiting for a verdict of the court, where the CBI had already submitted a detailed report earlier.
The ministers said the Centre was adopting different yardsticks for protecting CMs of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh and Maharashtra. —TNS
