Centre set up in Karnal to help women victims

A centre has been set up in the Mahila Ashram complex at Karnal under the one-stop centre scheme ‘Sakhi’ being run by the state government.

The centre has been linked to women helpline number 1091. In 2016-17, such centres were established in the districts of Gurugram, Faridabad, Hisar, Bhiwani, Rewari and Narnaul.

A spokesman of the Women and Child Development Department said here today that facilities like medical aid, police assistance, psycho-social counselling, legal aid/case management, shelter facility for short stay with food and clothing were being provided at the centre to women affected by domestic violence, sexual abuse, trafficking, dowry and acid attack.

Whenever any victim visited the centre, the administrator would inform the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, district programme officer, Women and Child Development Project Officer, Sationa House Officer and senior medical officer.

All facilities would be ensured to the victim at the centre, the spokesman added.
