Chandigarh-Kullu flight resumes

The non-scheduled airline operated by a Manali-based private company, in association with the IIC Technology Ltd, Hyderabad, restarted its flights between Chandigarh and Kullu yesterday.
Founder and CMD of the airline Budhi Prakash Thakur said the services were resumed using the single engine eight-seater Cessna Grand B-220 aircraft.
The airline named Himalayan Bulls was launched on April 2, 2014, which operated till July during summer and its operations continued during the summer season last year. The online booking portal of the carrier, www.airhimalayas.com, has the lowest base fare of Rs 6,999 for one-way travel.
Thakur said the fare, including the taxes, was Rs 8,300 for economy ticket, while it was Rs 9,600 for business class.
Thakur said the operations would be carried out daily except Wednesdays and the aircraft would be based at Chandigarh.
The CMD stated that the charter services could also be provided to Shimla, Pinjore, Gaggal and other airports in the northern region.
The tentative time for departure of approximately 40-minute-long one-way flight from Chandigarh to Bhuntar would be 9.20 am and that of return would be at 10.10 am, he added. He added that additional flights could be operated based upon the number of bookings.
The carrier provides a quick connectivity to Chandigarh from here, which is a major advantage to patients referred to medical institutes there in case of an emergency.
The masses associated with tourism industry stated that air connectivity to this region along with the existing flights of Air India would be a major fillip to the tourism industry.
