New Delhi, April 27
Anandpur Sahib MP Prem Singh Chandumajara today demanded operation of international flight to & from the Chandigarh international airport in SAS Nagar, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September last year.
Raising the matter during the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, the SAD leader said, “Even as the airport was inaugurated in September last year, no international flights are being operated there. It is learnt that private airlines are not ready to operate from there. Therefore, I request the government to ask Air India to start its flights from the new airport.”
The MP added that the government should look into it and also start domestic flights to Nanded Sahib.
On the controversy over the name of the airport, the MP said, “As the Haryana Assembly has endorsed the Punjab Government’s proposal to name the airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh, I don’t think there should be any problem in naming it after the martyr.”
